The UCLA Communication Studies Archive contains more than two hundred thousand news programs from the United States and around the world from 2005 to the present. The collection provides streaming of news content and includes time-stamped closed caption texts as well as transcripts of many broadcasts, offering advanced search functions to create a transformative platform that enables new and expansive possibilities for teaching, research and scholarship.

People and projects using the Archive

• The Red Hen Lab has been conducting research on multi-modal communication using the Archive.

• Prof. Otto Santa Ana in the Cesar E. Chavez Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies, UCLA, has used the Archive in his research on the portrayal of Latinos on television news. His research topics include the analysis of TV news coverage of the May 1, 2007 march in Los Angeles. Prof. Santa Ana has been awarded the American Political Science Association's 2013 Ralph J. Bunche Award for his work.

• The Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) has been using the Archive in its NECORE project, which "addresses a wide range of questions related to resilience and identity formation, seen in light of – and in the wake of – the terror attacks in Oslo and on Utøya on 22 July 2011."
